My grandfather is really into karaoke and enjoys recording his voice along with the music that he sings to. However, since he is my grandfather he has been using a karaoke setup that records onto cassette tapes. He wants to be able to record digitally and then burn his recordings to a CD. Since he does not have much computer experience, I have been helping him, trying to find good software that would allow him to do this. However, I have run into some problems.

The best karaoke program that I could find was KaraFun, but I still don't even like this program that much. The problem is that it does not seem like it is meant to record and save your voice. There is an option to save your recordings, but the problem with this option is that it automatically saves your recording as some unidentifiable wav file. In other words, it saves the file with a name that consists of a string of about 75 numbers, which have no obvious meaning. I could not find an option that would allow me to save my recordings by a name that I would designate, so I have to resort to changing the file names after each recording.

The other problem that I have is that after I get this recording, this is merely a recording of your voice, so I have to combine it with the music of the song. I use Audacity for this, importing both the music and my voice and then export the file as an mp3. This is something I wish I could avoid as well.

Although these steps may not seem all that complex, they can be quite tedious, and it is rather easy for someone like my grandfather to make a mistake during the process.

What I would really appreciate is some advice for making this process a bit simpler. If you know of a better program that supports the features that I mentioned above, I would greater appreciate it if you could let me know about it. Any other general advice is greatly welcomed as well. Thank you.

I have a pro karaoke player and i went out and ordered a recording system that consist of a voco-pro mic mixer and equalizer and a teac  cd recorder. it makes it simple you hit record on the teac hit play on the player then hit play on the teac the song starts and it starts recording and as long as you sound good once you get the mics set right the recording sound great

Alright, thanks for your help, but I'm guessing that the setup you have is rather expensive. I don't think we are looking to spend that much money, but just to get an idea, do you remember how much you spent on all of that?
