I guess I am just going to get a bunch of stuff off my chest about Karaoke hosts, I have no respect for.

Most Karaoke hosts I love, but when I found out that a host was ripping my music off, I made a point to watch for a few weeks a few hosts who use Computers for theirs shows, hence the nots below:
Washington COMPUTER Karaoke host are stealing songs from you!!!

Do not trust Karaoke hosts who run computers at their shows, People like Karen Knapp, Dr. Dan, Balboa Entertainment, Chad at Hawkeyes and others will ask to take your personal Karaoke disk, load (steal the music) it on their computer right under your nose give you back  your disk and then have you sing off the disk they loaded.  They steal your songs right under your nose.  There is no reason for any host to load songs off of a disk you bought on their computer. No matter what they tell you, they are stealing the songs you paid for.  If you see a host that uses a computer and  you sing off of your own disk, the safest thing to do is not sing at, or support their shows, but if you do decide to support their shows, do not let them have your disk for any extended period of time.  Take your disk up with you when you sing then when you are done singing wait for them to give you your disk back.  Many computer hosts, are thieves, they Pirate their Karaoke music off of the internet, take your disk and load it on their computer, then they make money from it, but you don't.  Its BS.  Please do not support these thieves, they will tell you they have the originals and a bunch of other BS and they may have a some, but they obviously don't have the ones they just stole from you.   Again please do not support non-legitimate Karaoke host like... Karen and Joe Knapp who do shows at 13th Ave Pub in Lynwood on Mondays, and also at The Spar Tree in Granit Falls Karen & Joe always talk crap about everyone around them including other hosts, but are very hypocritical they  make many of us sick!  Dr Dan is another Internet Pirate and thief, he does shows at HWY 9 Casino & has a venue near Seattle, Balboa Entertainment in Bellingham also a non-legitimate host. There are many more.  It is surprising that the business owners allow them to conduct non-legitimate business in their bars and steal from their customers, but then again they probably don’t know.  If you don't want the music from your Karaoke disk ripped off, don't support people who use Computer Karaoke set ups, and if you do, be careful when you give them your disk to sing from.  As a note, not all people that use computers are thieves, but about 80% of them are.  Have a good one.  John Karaoke!!!

What a bitter, jealous and stupid individual you are. I'm a karaoke host that uses a laptop for my shows. All my music is legal, but I get singers that bring their own disk or memory sticks in so they know they are singing the track versions they know. I upload them and put them into their file.

When the tracks are played I find that I've normally already got the tracks. The problem singers have is they have that many songs they can't normally remember the version they have so it's much quicker to put their tracks on my system. If a singer said they would only give my the disk when they got up to sing, I wouldn't call them up because it would slow down the night, I would have this rule even if I operated from CDG players because before I used a laptop I had three players with tracks lined up ready for the next singer. Putting the disk in the player when a singer came to sing would slow the night down.

As for a singer that asked me not to load their disk, I would comply but as soon as they sung a song I would see the version they were singing and then put the correct version into their file. I certainly would not only use their disk for their singing because it is a pain in the proverbial having disk all over the place when I have several singer arrive with disk.

To use illegal tracks is not just the domain of computer users, Some singers bring legal tracks to me but most singers bring illegal tracks, and also I know some karaoke host that only use illegal tracks on CDG players.

If you had the slightest notion of the pressures on a karaoke host and how difficult it can be to  host karaoke then you wouldn't have posted your post, you are not seeing the problem from the side of a host that uses a computer. How on earth you know that the tracks that a particular host is using is illegal is beyond me

Have a good one

if any host plays any soundcoice karaoke off of a harddrive they are doing so illegally sound choice is currantly tracking down and sueing such people they have filed a major lawsuit in arizona and i don't expect them to stop there. they have said that they at no time have given and rights to anyone to load their music on to a harddrive and that they will never do it. but if you still think it is legal have fun they will at some point find you.i have legally purchase all of my music and can't get shows because everyone else around me is using labtops tp play there shows and have ten times the music i have i spent of ten thousand dollars over time to buy my stuff.you know all these people haven't spent over a hundred thousand for theirs they wouldn't make money but yet they have sound choice music they play off the labtop. this sharing illegally could cost the karaoke manufactures out of business what happens then when you can't get new music
