Star is a PC conversion of the game Singtar for Sony's Playstation 2.If you are not familiar with the Singstar game this PC version works just like the Playstation 2 version. The software shows the lyrics along side a melody guide and it measures your performance against this guide. You can see right on the screen how you are doing as you sing along. It looks like a good program for fine tuning your karaoke skills or even picking up a tune from scratch.
Ultra Star isn't a full commercial release, it's available
as a free download from sourceforge where it's being developed so don't
expect something as polished as the Sony version. But do expect something
very good that you will have lot's of fun with.
Also, the download version comes with one sample of a song to get you started. The other songs will have to be added by yourself but don't panic, there's a good group of users already singing with ultrastar and have made some tracks available on their users forum here and there are guides on making your own songs too. There are also forums here and an Ultrastar news group here.
